Are you SEO? for beginners

by bridget busutil

Heard the word before?
Everyone uses SEO and basically understands the concept. Yet, how do you really implement it? I have received a lot of advice as to “how to choose my title” and the “how to repeat the same words within my text”.choosing the right keyword… indeed, not easy when syour topic is vast like internet market

SEO  is a methodology for search engines to find certain terms. The crawlers use a guide map, and some terms are on that map. The closer you get to the terms the easier it is to be found. Yet there is no need to obsess about it. Google has always proven very good and intuitive. I have submitted incredible questions and found answers…

At first, my advice is Take some, leave some or you’ll get a headache.  There is definitely a knowledge to acquire regarding search terms methods . There is also a learning curve. No need to fret about it and risk writing unacttractive articles. The best I know of don’t seem to worry and are only focused on their content. Do the same. Write your article and let your colleagues and good customers know about it . The famous word of mouth works so this is always a good place to start. As you progress in the method of terminology mapping. You will slowly refine your “terms” and continue to be interesting at the same time.

It is of importance to have an optimized website. And all businesses are well aware of it. The title is definitely important, words should include your main keywords and be written in h1. Give some attention to your subtitle also. Then you have your categories and your tags. So this is your own micro mapping. If you try to make a sketch of how these items will function together and one will lead to the other, you have pretty much got the message. The integrity of your text and the logic of your mapping is certainly more relevant than the repeated use of some keywords.

So SEO has 2 functions: 1 is making yourself found by the search engines The other is finding you customers.

Here are some tips about how to do it. Learn about who you wish to  promote! the internet is currently the place for many wonderful opportunities as well as  many scams. So know who you are dealing with.

Make a website. I use Wordpress. It is free and well known, easy to use and your chances to be found are better to begin with You can have a blog with Wordpress.com , completely free. Choose your theme and get going. Or you can have your site Go to Wordpress.org. you will also have free themes and good documentation on how to use them and bring them to your site. The latter option includes getting  a site and a host. A few companies work with Wordpress, making available easy steps to install your wordpress theme.( by the way I don’t work for wordpress!), bluehost, gator and so on. Wordpress may suggest a few. Drupal is another company that provides great themes for websites. They also have a company by the name of Volacci that helps with all the SEO for your Drupal site http://www.volacci.com.

Do more than a website establish a web presence. I mean be present on several Social Media places, Facebook, Twitter, Google, Yahoo and so on. The more place you can be found the more effective will be your site.

List your business. Google , Yahoo and Bing have a business centre.  Be on it. That is simple enough. Just cost a little bit of time.

Helpful is a tool provided by Google for their ads: it is excellent and provides you with ideas on terms to use..https://adwords.google.com

I also find  helpful HubSpot. It delivers the most value to search engine optimization beginners. Tech savvy readers will observe that one could cobble together a bunch of apps and programs to approximate most of HubSpot’s offerings for free or close to it. But the beauty of HubSpot for online marketing newbies is that it offers a system that puts it all together for you and makes implementation foolproof.

So far I’ve found that it takes the guesswork out of search engine optimization and makes it easy to start building a stronger online brand in just an hour a day. There is an  initial investment and a $250 monthly fee.

Twitter 101 Feeding Content

Ready for the next step. Hope you know your target, the topics you want to tweet and you are clear by now about the fact that your growth largely depends upon the quality of your content.

So lets go to google alertst You need to have a google account. If you don’t have one. Please get one now.

once done, go to accounts and look for alerts, the first one in the list.

Look at your little frame box              Create an alert

Enter the topic you wish to monitor.

Search terms    eg gardening

Type:                      eg comprehensive

How often            eg as it happens

Deliver to:            eg    feed

Create alert  (button)

Once the alert created, google brings you to the alerts table. You should have two or three. You can have more if you wish. Check out that they are well set up. You have an edit button at the end of each line. You need to receive them as feed, and not email. Then click on the topic of the alert eg., gardening and Google will open a page of all possible content for your gardening feed. Look at the browser and copy the link in the browser, then feed it to twitterfeed. Check that the link works before setting the feed (the term used is” parsed“). Choose the number of times per day you wish each feed to go to your twitter account. And there you are . Through Google your twitter account will be fed excellent content periodically.

However, stay on top, and try to tweet personally relevant things yourself. It will give a more personal feel to your account and  will get you more genuine people.

Two ways I suggest you check on what is tweeted :

There is a wonderful program called Tweetdeck, that you have to download. The program is FREE. It generatesa page as large as your screen and is divided into columns.  They include: your tweets, your friends tweets, your DMS,  recommended twitterers, And it connects with Facebook. If you have an account you will have a facebook column.

This is the most practical app I have seen, because it is multi-tasking, allowing you to check answer, DM and so on. You can keep it on your screen as you work, It stays behind.. This allows you to visit once in a while. Very handy and keeps you posted!)

The other way is to rely on your email where you receive all the new twitterers. It is up to you to check in once in a while and anwer those that are more personally adressed.

Business use. You can use your twitterers as leads. keep the emails in a database!

To your success!
